My Montblanc 146-Stub arrived today! Thank you! It is a truly great pen! It arrived intact and in working order. I flushed it out, of course, and have filled it with Diamine Regency Blue ink. The pen writes like a dream with a lovely, wet, stubbish line. This pen represents the attainment of a grail pen objective for me-I have wanted a 146 for years, but never had quite the opportunity to obtain one. The nib delights me! I have a 149, and this pen very much resembles its big brother; I find that it is more comfortable for me to use it unposted rather than posted (the cap itself posts well)-I assume that the piston mechanism gives the back end a lot of heft. I love the nib and the patina acquired through use.
Poor, poor pen! Even more, poor, poor nib!
Fairly expensive Mont Blanc limited edition pen suffered the tumbles of “Permanent Press” then the “Fluff Cycle.”
Not to worry, this nib has a happy ending! See slide show below.
Oh, and the turn around time was only 2 weeks!

I received a Pilot VP nib unit today for retipping; the client requested a custom BB 1.20mm oblique, and I was more then able to obliged them!
See the slide show below;
Quite often I receive the most difficult nibs to work on, and rare too!
Case in point; this Parker #12 Lucky Curve nib; the largest and rarest nib of the early Parker line.
Split in half and requiring a retip, it took me many hours of careful welding, hand engraving of the imprint best possible, and then a medium retip.
Enjoy the slide show of the “Before and After” photos, and let me know if I can assist you with your nib!
About once every other week I receive a pen from a customer stating the filling system will not fill.
And every time I take the pen apart, and the pen has an ink sac, I find it destroyed from the inside out. The quick slide show below show a damaged, turned to “goo” ink sac barely 4 months old.
My opinion is that one should use only factory inks for they, the factory’s, have a tacit responsibility that their inks will work well in fountain pens, new and old.
Just finished this retip to a Mont Blanc 149.
The client requested that it be a .40mm in size, and original looking as possible. Notice the original white/two tone aspects of the nib have been preserved during the retipping process.
