    Great pen!
    .

So, I think you an afford the $175.00 plus shipping this pen will cost you! I have only two in stock, brand new, one with a fine nib, one with a broad nib. Great Mandarin Bexley Poseidon pen, with the box, new, ready to go! What I like about this pen is the thick cap lip which gives the cap/and whole pen a substantial feel, making it a very nice writer, yet not too big or too heavy, but a nice feeling around the fingers when held to write with, and the nibs are 18K gold, not steel! Contact me asap as these two pens will not last that long in my inventory.

    Greg,
You did a BEAUTIFUL job. WOW!
Please e-mail me the exact cost with shipping and I will mail you the check tomorrow. I am definitley going to send you more pens for re-tipping in the near future. The photo writing sample looks really cool.

    Sincerley,
    Alan

This was a fun retip. Large, 1.4mm stub retip to a small nib and pen, which Alan requested. Being a smaller pen, with less ink reserve, I sure hope that there is a bottle of ink somewhere so that this pen can be filled quickly! Thanks so much Alan, I am glad you are happy and I look forward to more pens from you real soon!

Here is a case of “gotta” have one! I received an email from “Anne” who saw another one of her fellow students enjoying her new Namiki Falcon that I had modified to super flex, extra fine/needlepoint tip. Anne had to have one. So, off I went to my limited inventory of these wonderful pens (I am actually down to just one in stock now!) and made Anne the pen for her. Her comments below, after I emailed her the photos below, even before she has received the pen:

You are a magician Greg! It is beautiful.
    Thank you, thank you.

As they say, a picture is worth a thousands words… this is so true in this case.

Tomorrow Anne will receive her new pen and I am sure she will email me later!
    .

    .
    3/26/10 Postscript:

On Friday Anne received the pen from my wife Janet, as Anne is a student of Janet’s at the local community college (Santa Monica College) where Janet teaches calligraphy and letterform on Fridays. Below is what Anne emailed once she received the pen:

    Dear Greg,

This morning, I met Janet in the parking lot of our calligraphy class in Santa Monica.
It was such a thrill to receive the package with the Namiki Falcon that you so skillfully
    modified for me.

It is beautiful to the eye, and capable of producing elegant calligraphy.
The next challenge is putting it to good use and doing it justice.

Thank you dear friend, have a gorgeous weekend.

    Fondly,
    Anne

So, you have a nice Parker 61 pen, but the nib is, well, blah! I can help you. Below is the result of a new broad ball retip I did today which I am sure you will find quite pleasing. Lets now hope that the feed on this 61 pen will keep up with this broad retip :-)

Here is another deal! The pen is a light blue Aerometric, steel cap, a nice pen, but not collectable, sporting now one of my famous music nibs. Hurry as this one will not last!

  • Well, out of the blue (actually the screen of the computer) I received an email from Jeff S. He was just dropping me a quick note to say how happy he was with his recently acquired 1.3mm custom stub Sheaffer Triumph pen he purchased from Gerry Berg, one of the leading, if not the best Sheaffer plunger pen repair person out there. Pictures below, and Jeff’s comments about the pen.

    Greg:
I love this Triumph w/your nib. I almost bought a pen with a 1.3 stub but I was told that if you write small (like I do) that a smaller
    stub would be best.

Thanks again for your great workmanship!!!

Sheaffer TRIUMPH plunger-filler (93WH) in “golden brown” stripe with a 1.1mm STUB tipped nib by GREG MINUSKIN
    .

    .
Created by GREG MINUSKIN, this STUB is VERY SMOOTH AND LAYS DOWN A JUICY LINE.
    HANDWRITING SAMPLE BELOW:

    .
Here is an ideal combination: the rugged Sheaffer Triumph nib with a 1.1mm stub and one of the plunger-filling ink “tankers” of the 1940s. THE 1.1mm STUB USES A LOT OF INK, AND THE PROPERLY RESTORED PLUNGER-FILLER HOLDS LOT OF INK (See note below on PLUNGER-FILLER RESTORATION). This ORIGINAL TRIUMPH nib has been re-tipped and ground by the West Coast nibmeister, GREG MINUSKIN.

  • 08 Mar 2010 /  Watches for Sale

Once in a while I come across an unusual watch, and this one for sure qualifies. It is a Sychronar 2100 made by Riehl. Rather rare for sure, and really cool. Basically it is a fully contained watch, completely sealed, with solar panels on the top. The operation of the functions are accomplished with small switches on top, which are magnetic, which activate small magnetic reed switches inside the plastic case. The whole unit is attached to a steel top, steel bracelet. Completely American made.

There are three models, this being the latest one, called the Mark III. Pictured below are some photos. The watch has two time zones, Daylight saving mode, Alarm, Stop Watch, Elapsed Time Indicator, Stop Watch, Day/Date/Year, and get this, you can correct the timing of the quartz module through a series of switch “flicks.” How many quartz watches can you do this too? Finally,

I have the original box and paperwork/instructions on how to adjust the watch, and a copy of the patent for this watch filed with the U.S. Patent Office back on November 6, 1973!

Stephanie is sure enjoying her new Namiki Falcon Superflex

    .
Another happy, and new client enjoying the special aspects of a Needlepoint Namiki Falcon Superflex done my me. Just a few days after the order was taken, Stephanie was enjoying her new pen, as evidenced by the writing sample pictured above. Here is what she had to say:

    Hi Greg,

I’ve been playing with my Namiki tonight and I LOVE the nib! I was worried about putting too much pressure on it until I saw Janet write with hers. It’s great for not only Copperplate but also the “pressure and release” technique on Roman Capitals!

Thank you again for your prompt service.

    Cheers,
    Stephanie C.
